Here’s Barbra’s latest album, recorded this year with Diana Krall and her Quartet accompanying, and arrangements by the great Johnny Mandel. Babs sounds great, her miraculous 67 year old instrument under extreme scrutiny in this most intimate album. Some of the greatest love songs receive the most personal attention from Streisand. Recorded close, her gorgeous voice floats over and in between the superlative instrumentalists. This is a great album.
The recording is of the close miked, studio style. Not for audiophiles, but sounding good, nonetheless.
It’s Streisand’s amazing way with the melodies and lyrics that place her among the pantheon of the greats. Frank, Ella, Billie, then Barbra. For sure. And with artistic testaments such as this, no wonder.
You like love? You like artistry? You like great songs? Of course. It’s a no brainer. Long live Barbra Streisand. She’s still a phenomenon. Even after all these years. Glorious!
