I thought our readers would like to see what a thousand dollars buys you in computer speakers. Just the two speakers, no subwoofer. More glass floor than ceiling!
From the Harman Kardon website:
Every detail of the GLA-55, from the facets of its bass-reflex enclosures to its custom chrome tubing, has been designed to complement its astonishingly high sonic quality. From the powerful bass of the Atlas™ woofers to the crystal-clear highs of the CMMD® tweeters to the touch-sensitive volume controls, the GLA-55 system is audio luxury defined. It’s also versatile enough to work with your computer, iPod, or virtually any audio device with a 3.5mm (1/8″) output.

Holy cr*p! I’ve always read that glass performs poorly in regards to reflections/ sound absorption. Been reading in the press about several prominent offerings with glass that successfully use glass - so this is exciting since glass can look so beautiful.
This to me is just plain crazy for this price. If money is no object than purchase them. There are computer speakers out there will do just fine for listning to music and much cheaper to.
Money should not be the reason for not purchasing speakers like this, even if your not super wealthy. Its all about where you like to put your money? Lots of people will go thru that much money easily on a fishing trip which seems to me to be the most ridiculous thing to do, yet there they are doing, or maybe even giving to their preferred church.
I for one would put my money in something like this rather than named above endeavors but that is an individual preference. If the quality is there, then they are an addition to quality speaker for a computer system, and their price should not be a factor mostly if you look at what people spend money on.
Thanks for your comment, Alexander. And welcome. Cheers, a
How can these top the soundsticks? they cannot! and they look plain ridiculous
Having worked for Dr. Harman from the 70’s thru the 90’s I can say he had no involvement with anything like this! Pure marketing.
BTW, I use the same Infinity computer speakers that I purchased 10+ years ago. They’re still doing quite well thank you.
