The McIntosh McAire

The interestingly-named McIntosh McAire integrated audio system has built in (Apple) AirPlay which allows you to wirelessly stream music via a Wi-Fi network and your iTunes library, as well as music stored on your other Apple devices. Older iPod Classics can be hooked up with a USB cable.

The McIntosh info page continues ‘…featuring two 4” woofers, two 2” midranges and two ¾” tweeters, the McAire can breathe new life into your digital library; depending on your previous iTunes playback device, the McAire may be like hearing your music again for the first time. To meet your room aesthetics or personal preference, the speaker grilles are easily removed to expose the midranges and tweeters. USB docking is available for all day playback and charging, with song selection and volume handled by the included remote control. Computers, TVs and other sources may be quickly connected for full range, high fidelity sound.’

Glad it’s AirPlay and not a 30 pin connector as all the new Apple devices are rocking the 9 pin ‘Lightning’ connector. But, the classic McIntosh look remains.

If this sounds nearly as good as the McIntosh MXA60 then it is a winner for the I got it like that crowd. Would like to have an included AM/FM/HD tuner. For many this will serve as music system for background music and the ability for radio would be a real plus. You may not always have your ipod with you.
